In addition to more traditional disciplinary research in Political Science, I am actively working in the area of disaster policy and politics. I am lead PI for two grants from the National Science Foundation, both focused on disaster risk reduction in the Americas. As part of this effort, I direct a three-year (2020-23), 17-country collaborative research program with partners from FIU and Vanderbilt University. Early findings from this research program were published in 2019 in Natural Hazards Review, a journal of the American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE). From 2019-21, I was a Fellow at Florida International University’s Extreme Events Institute (EEI).
